Trendwatching and Coolhunting Things Caribbean

Sunday House, Tabom and JoMersa Marley Celebration, centers Women DJs, Artists and Event Producers this Weekend.

BoomHead, March 7, 2025March 10, 2025

It’s International Women’s Month so all month, I’m only promoting events that are produced by women or center women. So this is the first drop:

SUNDAY HOUSE.

Sunday House is a weekly Sunday event at TacBar at Devon House.  It spotlights and amplifies House Music and what I’d call a second wave of our House Music and Electronic Music Culture and Community. Each recent event has had a clash of sorts – where House music meets Afrobeats, Reggae, Dancehall and Soca. The selected DJs come from the House Music Community as well as from mainstream. They tend to serve up some really cool bunch of remixes. A great strategy to let newbies know that they already love House Music, they just didn’t know, and it also allows them to hear fresh House Music remixes of reggae hits, new Reggae music from our artists.

Sunday House is now curated by Electric Bangaz, the aggressive, fast-growing Electronic Music Event brand, founded by Wendel Richards.

This Sunday is International Women’s Day, so there will be three DJs. DJ Lava from Fame 95FM, DJLytes, a Canadian DJ, Mix and Audio Engineer, together they just launched as the HeadBopHerz. Plus DJ Reiizzzr originally from Tanzania has been steeping herself in the culture of The Compound, Tribe Nine Studios and other cool brands. Expect greatness from 8 pm- 12midnight. Get Listed or Just Pull Up.

JO MERSA MARLEY’S CELEBRATION.

The Bob Marley Family Dynasty lost a member recently. Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley was a Jamaican reggae singer, son of Stephen Marley and grandson of Reggae Legend Bob Marley. Being Jamaica’s First Family of Reggae Music, they all converge on the Bob Marley Museum on Saturday, March 8th, International Women’s Day. And about 15 Reggae Stars lined up. Including Lila Ike and Jaz Elise, and clearly this is the reason why we nah go get another Roots & Groove event from Lila, Naomi, Sevana, and Jaz Elise. LOL. This is going to be a great event.

TABOM!

This is an entertainment event by Odessa Chambers, Founder of o-access JAMAICA, Entertainment and Music Executive, and Podcaster. TABOM! Will feature 2025 MOBO Award winning Producer and DJ Juls Baby. It will showcase colourful sounds of African and Electronic sounds from home. Odessa, who is the first daughter of Reggae Legend Jimmy Cliff, has partnered with Grammy Award winning producer Teflon Zincfence.

The event is supported by the PJ Wright-led TacBar Jamaica and the Solomon Sharpe-led MainEvent Ltd.

TABOM! happens on Monday March 17th, 2025 @ TacBar, Devon House. They held it 2 years ago and it did cork. So get there early zeen. Get tickets here.
